Frequently Asked Questions:

Can I Juice Leafy Greens with These Juicers?

Yes, you sure can. Just make sure to set your juicer on a lower speed (low for the Breville or speed 3 for the Cuisinart).

Can I Juice Wheatgrass?

No, not with these juice extractors. To juice wheatgrass, it is recommended that you use a slow masticating juicer which can get more out of the wheatgrass without oxidation of it.

Can It Make Nut Milks or Butters?

No. Again, for such a task, you’ll want a slow masticating juicer and not a juice extractor.

What Type of Juicer Is The Cuisinart CJE-1000 and Breville JE98XL?

They are Centrifugal Juicers, which work at high speed.

Do I Have To Cut Down Fruits and Vegetables Before Juicing?

Depends on the fruit/veg. For a fruit like orange for example, the chute could be wide enough to accommodate the whole fruit or if it’s too large, you might cut it in half. But you certainly have to peel it. For an apple, it can be juiced whole.

Functionality:

Of course, both appliances do an excellent job of blending drinks, smoothies and crushing ice. However, with the Ninja Professional Blender, you have speed and pulse control and a large capacity pitcher, which can allow you to use it for more than just smoothies. So if you’re preparing food that requires any type of blending, the Ninja Professional blender can be used for that. On the other hand, since Nutri Ninja Pro only blends single serving of drinks, that’s the only thing it can be used for.

Results:

Since Ninja Professional Blender is larger in size, it has more blades that should deliver more consistent results. With its speed control, you can crush, blend and puree. With the Nutri Ninja Pro, you can only blend at a single speed, which results in great consistency for smoothies.

Attachments and Accessories:

  • Nutri Ninja Pro includes two cups, one regular size of 24 oz and another small one with 18 oz capacity. You can buy additional cups if needed.
  • Both blenders include a recipe book.

Which Blender Should You Buy?

Your choice of blender will fully depend on what you need from it:

  • If you’re looking for a blender to make smoothies and only smoothies, then you’ll love how easily Nutri Ninja Pro creates drinks that are ready to take on the road.
  • If you want more out of your blender, the Ninja Professional Blender is multi-functional. With speed and pulse control and a large pitcher, you can create more than just smoothies. You can use it to blend or puree soups, sauces, create nut milks, or basically any recipe that requires blending.

  • Wattage: The Cuisinart SM-70 has more power with 1000 watts while the KitchenAid has 575 watts.
  • Speed Settings: The Cuisinart has more speed settings, 12 to be exact, and has a slow-start and fold function. While the KitchenAid has 10 settings.
  • Bowl capacity: The Cuisinart bowl has 7 quart capacity and NO handle. The KitchenAid has a 6 quart bowl with a handle. Both bowls are made of stainless steel.
  • Planetary Action: The KitchenAid has a 67-points planetary action which ensures the best mixing results.
  • Included Attachments: Both mixers come with the same attachments: a flat mixer, a whisk and a dough hook, as well as a splash guard.
  • Optional Attachments: When you want to expand the function of your mixer, you can purchase attachments separately. The KitchenAid offers over 12 attachments for its power hub, the Cuisinart has 5 attachments.
  • Controls: The Cuisinart has a dial knob with 2 buttons for on/off and fold button as well as a display screen for the timer. The KitchenAid has a classic slider switch.
  • Colors: The Cuisinart is available in brushed chrome, black or white. The KitchenAid is available is over 10 colors.

Which One Should You Choose? The Cuisinart SM-70 or KitchenAid Professional 600 Series?

  • The Cuisinart SM-70 has a lot of great features for its price. You get higher wattage, more speed settings and great slow-start and fold functions. You also get a countdown timer that the KitchenAid lacks. Another thing we like on the Cuisinart is the dial knob, which is less likely to break than a slider switch. However, the planetary action on the Cuisinart isn’t as good as the KitchenAid.
  • The KitchenAid has always been preferred by bakers for its iconic design and color variety, and power hub with over 12 optional attachments. In comparison to the Cuisinart, you are getting 10 speed settings instead of 12,, smaller bowl, 575 watts instead of 1000 watts, no timer, and an annoying slider switch that is prone to breaking. On the other hand, the KitchenAid has bowl lift design which provides better bowl stability, it has 67 planetary mixing action which gives more thorough mixing and better results.
  • It’s worth noting though, that the optional attachments for the KitchenAid can be expensive, so if you’re choosing the KitchenAid for its expandable functions, you should see how much those optional attachments could cost you before buying the mixer. Many times, you’d find that buying a standalone appliance for that one task could be cheaper than an attachment.

Should You Choose The Breville BEM800XL or KitchenAid Artisan Mixer?

KitchenAid has been leading the standing mixer industry for long years, which makes many people unable to decide between it and any other brand. So is it possible that there are better mixers out there than the famous KitchenAid?

  • The Breville BEM800XL comes packed with a great design, nice set of accessories, easy to use controls, timer with auto-off. It’s at the same price range as the KitchenAid and you get the exact same basic functions. Actually, you get two extra speed settings and two extra accessories with the Breville. Value wise, we do believe you’ll be getting the same thing.
  • You might think, but thanks to KitchenAid Artisan Mixer power hub, you can extend its functions to do A LOT more than what a mixer would do. And you’re right, that’s a big plus for the KitchenAid. But it’s worth noting that these extra attachments come at a price. And sometimes, it will be less expensive to buy an appliance that performs the same task than buy the mixer accessory.
  • We like the fact that attachments on the Breville are all durable stainless steel, which might be easier to clean and maintain that KitchenAid’s nylon coated attachments. Parts from both mixers are dishwasher safe.

In This Post:

Breville is an Australian brand that has grown in popularity world wide due to it’s super quality and sleek design for kitchen appliances. Breville pays good attention to their design without compromising the user experience, and this applies to all their appliances, including juicers, which is what we will talk about in this post.

Before we get into which Breville Juicer is best to buy, let’s talk about the kind of juicers and difference between them.

Centrifugal vs. Masticating, Which Type of Juicer Do You Want?

The two most popular type of juicers is the Centrifugal and Masticating (Slow) juicers.

  • The Centrifugal Juicer is the most common of these two and has been around in a long time. This type of juicer uses a spinning blade that runs against a filter, which works on separately the juice from the flesh of the fruit or vegetable. Traditionally, with a centrifugal juicer there are two containers, one that catches the juice and another for the pulp of the fruit/veg.
  • With a Masticating Juicer, the fruit/veg is first crushed then slowly pressed to give you the most out of what you’re pressing. This type of juicer is newer than Centrifugal juicers and it’s known for its slow processing.

Pros and Cons of a Centrifugal and Masticating Juicer:

  • While Centrifugal juicers are more popular and more affordable than Masticating juicers, there’s one issue with them. Centrifugal juicers spin very fast, and that spinning produces heat that actually kills some of the good enzymes of the fruit or vegetables you’re juicing. So with a centrifugal juicer, you’re not getting the full nutrients from your juice.
  • On the other hand, a masticating juicer works at only 70 to 80 rpm (in comparison to centrifugal speed of over 6000 rpm). Therefor, no heat is produced and no enzymes are kills. Also, a masticating juicer first crushes then presses the fruit, so the whole process is different and is designed to yield more juice and maximum nutrient.
  • Another great benefit of a masticating juicer is that (some) can do a lot more than just juicing, they can create nut butters, nut milks, and a few other tasks that make them worth their high price tag.

The 3 Top Rated Breville Juicers:

Breville Fountain Crush vs. Breville Big Squeeze Juicer, What’s The Difference?

Big Squeeze is another slow juicer by Breville, which puts it in the same category as the Fountain Crush (listed above). So what makes them different and which should you choose?

Both juicer are quite the same:

  • 240 watts motor.
  • Slow juicer with quiet operation.
  • Direction control for reversing juicing direction when needed (if a fruit is stuck, for example).
  • Can juice anything from hard fruit, soft fruit or leafy greens.

What’s different, then?

The only difference between the Big Squeeze and Fountain Crush is the chute size:

  • The Big Squeeze has a large chute that can accommodate most fruit and vegetables without the need to cut them before.
  • The Fountain Crush has a small chute, so cutting and prepping your ingredients is required.

Click here to learn more about the Big Squeeze, read the customer reviews and buy it.

Which Breville Juicer Is The Right One For You?

Firs thing you need to decide on is whether you want a centrifugal or a masticating juicer.

How To Choose Between a Centrifugal or Masticating Juicer?

  • If you like your juice on the lighter side and don’t care if you’re not getting the MAXIMUM amount of nutrients in your juice (you’re still getting good nutrients!), and happened to have a budget of under $200, a Centrifugal is the right choice of you. Either the Breville Fountain Plus or Juice Fountain Cold would make a great choice for you.
  • If you prefer your juice of thick and smooth texture (almost smoothie-like), while getting the most out of your ingredients, then you’ll definitely want a masticating juicer. However, you’ll need a budget of over $200 for a proper one. Apart from Breville’s Fountain Crush, we’d also recommend you look at OMEGA juicers, too.

Frequently Asked Questions:

Is The Breville 800JEXL Fountain Elite a Masticating Juicer?

No, it’s a centrifugal juicer.

Can You Make Smoothies with a Breville Juicer?

  • The Breville Quick Touch Crisp has an inverter that regulates power as well as a grill function. These two features can work together to brown and crisp food that would normally get soggy in other microwaves, such as Pizza or any type of pastries. The Quick Touch does not have this feature.
  • When it comes to pre-sets, the Quick Touch Crisp has 18 cook and grill menus, 7 reheat menus, 4 defrost menus and 2 melt and soften menus. The Quick Touch has 13 cooking menus, 13 reheat menus, 2 defrost and 2 melt and soften menus.
  • The Quick Touch Crisp has an independent Grill function.
  • The Quick Touch Crisp includes a crisping pan as an accessory.

Which One Should You Buy?

While both microwave ovens have somewhat similar smart features, how you’ll be using your microwave should help you with you decision:

  • The Breville Quick Touch Crisp has the true innovation and solution to a long-time problem: soggy reheated food. This magical microwave actually crisps your reheated food, let’s say we’re talking about pizza here… reheating pizza in any microwave will turn it into a soggy piece that you’ll have to eat right away before it hardens. The Quick Touch Crisp will reheat and crisp up your pizza like a toaster oven so you get a fresh-like pizza.
  • The Quick Touch Crisp also has a grilling function. It has more cooking and grilling pre-sets. So this model is geared towards someone who likes to use their microwave for cooking as well as reheating.
  • The Breville Quick Touch (which lacks the browning and crisping feature) has a lot more reheat and defrosting pre-sets, so it’s probably a better choice for someone who uses a microwave for reheating or melting purposes.

The Base:

  • The JB7130BK has a base that combines stainless steel with some plastic, making it more durable and easier to clean and maintain.
  • The JB7000BKS has a plastic only body.

The Pre-sets:

  • JB7130BK has 6 pre-sets: Chop, Stir, Mix, Puree, Liquify and Ice Crush. This makes it more versatile in what you can do with it.
  • The JB7000BKS has 3 pre-sets only: Stir, Liquify and Ice Crush.

Pulse Mode:

  • On the JB7130BK, the Pulse mode has 5 speeds that will allow you to fine-tune your blending to get the best results.
  • The Pulse mode on the JB7000BKS has 1 speed only.

Which One Should You Buy?

Which one to choose would depend on what you want to do with blender:

  • With more pre-sets, the JB7130BK allows you to chop, mix, stir, puree and more with a simple push of a button. This makes it a perfect choice for someone who is looking for a blender that does it all. You’ll be able to do everything from smoothies, salsa, soups and more. And with the variable Pulse mode speeds, you’ll have even more control over the results you can get.
  • On the other hand, we feel like the JB7000BKS, which only has 3 pre-sets, is more suitable for someone who wants a blender to make smoothies or other drinks. The Pulse mode in this model has 1 speed only, which can limit your results.
  • If you’re into icy treats and drinks, you’ll be happy to know that both of these models have the SmoothCrush system, which gives you consistently smooth crushed ice every time.

Conclusion – Is The Braun PureMix a Good Blender To Buy?

For the price point, the PureMix by Braun is a great choice. Especially when compared to other Braun blenders, the PureMix has been redesigned to feature a higher positioned blade, which makes all the difference when it comes to blending results. It means nothing will get stuck at the bottom, ingredients will blend quick and more consistently and ice will crush perfectly.

When it comes to power, there are blenders with more powerful motors either by Braun or other brands. But of course, higher power means higher price, which is why we consider the Braun PureMix to be a great choice at its price point.

The one difference between these two models is the control panel on the 780, which is the upgraded version of the 750, it’s a digital touchscreen control panel that makes controlling the blending a lot easier with simple taps. This digital control panel is scratch and crack resistant, and it won’t be affected by any spills or splashes.

Everything else in these blenders is the same. They’re quality build machines, fully made in the USA.

Which One Should You Buy?

If this is going to be your first Vitamix, then without a doubt, go for the latest model, the 780.

If you already have the 750 model, we really don’t see the reason for an upgrade (unless your blender is worn out, and we doubt that, these blenders don’t wear out easily!) Getting the 780 only for its digital control panel is not worth it since you already have all the other great features.

The 5200 is part of Vitamix C-series (The Classic Blenders). It’s also known as the Getting Started blender, so it doesn’t have the same features as the Professional grade 780. Apart from the touchscreen digital control that the 780 has, which is an obvious difference by now, the 5200 is not as powerful with 2-peak horsepower instead of 2.2 like the 780. Also, the 5200 doesn’t have any pre-sets for the most used functions like smoothies, soups or purees, it has to be manually controlled and adjusted.
